Fidelity International Case Study
Facilitate were appointed by Fidelity International to manage the relocation of their Sydney office to Sixty Martin Place – a prestigious, new, 6 star Green Star building positioned at the top of historic Martin Place with expansive view of the Sydney harbour.
The project was a bold move for Fidelity, not only relocating their staff from Macquarie Street where they were located for over 10 years, but also adopting activity-based working. Fidelity strove to create a workplace environment that reflected their ambition, and enabled them to foster a physically connected team. The design embodies the core values of Fidelity of integrity and trust with a dynamic and organic overlay aligned to the ethos to be; brave, bold, curious and compassionate. The result is a contemporary space that positions Fidelity with the agility to embrace a more agile and resilient way of working – with subtle references to past traditions.
Throughout COVID, there were no incidents on site during the 10 weeks of construction. Despite travel restrictions and major time zone differences from Australia to Hong Kong, China and UK, the team worked effectively through different modes of technology. In terms of commitment to ensure the project was delivered successfully, there was strong collaboration between global and local teams; effective engagement with local staff to ensure they were informed of the new office layout and resulting changes to work place practices; and a very positive adaptation of approach to cope with the challenging constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic.
